Create an accountDominic Chambers is an African American artist from St.Louis, MO.. He creates large paintings & drawings, referencing narratives from books, mythologies, and African American history. Dom is represented by Roberts Projects in Los Angeles & Lehman Maupin in New York City. He received his MFA from the Yale University School of Art.
After Albers: After, After Albers is a sticker sheet featuring nine of Dom Chambers’ paintings that homage the modern theorist & artist, Josef Albers. All but one of these stickers is bisected in surprising ways, allowing you to peel & recombine the pieces into new pictures. Have fun & experiment with combinations of color & shape like an artist; put them in dialogue with other imagery that is meaningful to you; or give one to someone special in your life.
The Wash: The Wash Stickers place pieces of portraits by Dom within a leaf-shaped motif - each framed as if looking through a comparably sized opening in a fence. Taken as a whole, the leaves symbolize a family tree, affirming the fact that all of the people pictured in Dom’s work are his friends. Celebrate your own friends & family. Give them a sticker as a sign of affection.
All Kinds of Magic: All Kinds of Magic is a set of stickers that refer to one of three series of paintings that explore Black intellectualism & leisure by Dom. Painted in lush colors & often featuring his friends as models, these pictures have a palpable energy. Warm up your life and the surfaces that define it with these scenes of confident beauty & relaxed power.
